My pool is 16 x 32 with an average depth of 4 ft (3 ft shallow, 5 ft at the deepest). In order to find the best size heat pump for my size pool, should I be going by the dimensions, or is the overall gallon size more important?
Thank you for writing! Sizing a heat pump pool heater involves many factors, but basically a heater is sized according to the surface area of the pool. Other factors that affect the heating load for outdoor pools include wind exposure, humidity levels and cool night temperatures. Therefore, pools located in areas with higher than average wind speeds at the pool surface, lower humidity, and cool nights will require a larger pool heater. Purchasing a solar blanket will help retain the heat at night and in windy areas and will contribute to the overall efficiency of your pool heating system. Thank you again for your question, and please let us know if we can be of further assistance!
