This step-by-step guide will help you start up your spa using Nature 2 spa sanitizer and the correct spa products from PoolGear Plus. Before starting up a new Nature 2 spa, clean all debris and algae out of the spa and spa equipment. Do not install the Nature 2 spa sanitizer until the spa water is clean and chemically balanced.
Step One: Balance spa water, using these guidelines:
- pH: 7.2 – 7.6
- Calcium Hardness: 200 – 400 ppm
- Total Alkalinity: 80 – 120 ppm
Step Two: Insert the Nature 2 spa sanitizer into the top loading cartridge rilter. See the Nature 2 Spa Assembly and Installation Diagrams for complete installation instructions.
Step Three: Follow label directions to add the proper dosage of Spa Choice Chlorine Sanitizer. Do not enter the spa if the free available chlorine residual is over 3 ppm.
Step Four: Run spa equipment as recommended by the manufacturer.
Step Five: Before each use, test spa water with an Aquachek 3-Way Monopersulfate strip. If the MPS level is low, add one capful of Spa Choice Re-Energize non-chlorine oxidizing shock per 375 gallons of spa water. Use the Aquachek test strip to test the spa water after each application of non-chlorine oxidizing shock. If the test strip indicates levels below the proper range, add one capful of Spa Choice Re-Energize per 375 gallons and retest. Enter the spa only after the test strip indicates a sufficient level of MPS.
Step Six: After each spa use, add one capful of Spa Choice Re-Energize per 375 gallons of spa water.
Step Seven: Adjust the pH, calcium hardness, and total alkalinity once per week as needed.
Step Eight: Add the proper dose of Spa Choice Chlorine Sanitizer to remedy problems such as:
- when bathing loads are high
- when successive MPS test strips indicate high demand
- when spa water appears hazy or dull
- when unpleasant odors or eye irritation occur
- after heavy wind or rainstorms
- when foam develops
After adding spa chlorine, adjust pH, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness as needed.
Step Nine: After four months, drain and refill your spa, replace the Nature 2 spa sanitizer, and repeat this spa start-up procedure.
